At the University of Rochester, there is a strong foundation of student leadership and advocacy. But students are asking for something different, more connection, more clarity, and transparency, new projects that work to better support student life and experiences. As Campus Life Chair, Insiyah established the Dining Advisory Board, bringing together cultural, religious, and student organizations to directly shape dining improvements. Because of that work and consistent student feedback, Blue Cactus will become swipe-accessible in Fall 2026- a result of listening and acting on what students asked for. At the same time, I have been working on expanding the Green Line, which will begin next semester. This expansion will improve access to key locations like Market Square Plaza, reduce the need for students to cross unsafe traffic, and restore stops to the Public Market. This is about making campus and the surrounding community more accessible and safer for students. Addressing issues that affect students every day such as housing conditions, infrastructure, transportation, dining access, and campus safety. Students should feel supported in their living spaces, confident moving around campus, and included in decisions that shape their experience. It also means strengthening how student government connects with students. Listening should not be limited to meetings or events. We will prioritize direct engagement, meeting students where they are, creating accessible ways to share feedback, and bringing those concerns directly into conversations with administrators. We will also build stronger collaboration across campus by incorporating advisory boards, student organizations, and campus partners into the governing process. Representation should be active and this is something that we both stand by and will be the core of our term. As Vice President, Insiyah will play an active and visible role not just supporting initiatives, but helping shape them, challenge them, and ensure they remain grounded in student needs. Our leadership will be collaborative, accountable, and focused on progress and not an echo chamber of our own thoughts. As President my goal is not to be friends with administrators, but to build a relationship grounded in respect and persistence. Respect in how we communicate, and persistence in what we demand. I will advocate for students consistently. I will not shy away from hard conversations or uncomfortable truths. This role is not about maintaining appearances or staying quiet, I will ensure that student voices are taken seriously at every level. Through my roles on the Administrative Review Committee ARC, SORB, and the SAAC, I have worked to advocate for student organizations, especially minority organizations to ensure they are supported, fairly funded, and properly represented. This campaign is not about criticism. It is about growth. The University of Rochester is a place that offers opportunity, community, and challenge. We are grateful to be part of it. And because we care about it, we believe it should continue to evolve alongside the students who make it what it is.This is not a stepping stone for us, It is a commitment to doing more with the experience we already have.
