Square Foot SponsorshipIn
addition to building homes with area affiliates of Habitat for Humanity, the
University of Rochester Chapter of Habitat is currently raising money to
sponsor, or co-sponsor a house. To
be acknowledged as a house sponsor an organization must contribute a minimum of
$10,000, but our end goal is to raise the total $65,000 needed to build a house.
By holding a variety of annual fundraisers
and activities over the past four years we have raised over $8,000, mostly
through the continuing support of the UR community. We are now looking to speed
up the fundraising process by branching out of the University community. In
order to reach our goal, we invite you to support one (or more!) square foot, at
a cost of $65 each. As
a Square Foot Sponsor, you and your business will be helping to empower a local
family in need, giving them not only a safe shelter, but a home to call their
own. The bulk of the sponsorship money we raise will go towards the necessary
building supplies for the UR Habitat sponsored home. The remaining funds are
used to compensate contractors, electricians, and an experienced build
supervisor. Most of the work that goes into all Habitat homes is done by
volunteers. The UR-sponsored house will be built largely by University of
Rochester students, along with other Rochester community volunteers. All of our
contributors will be invited to help build as well – a truly rewarding
experience! To
acknowledge your sponsorship of University of Rochester's Habitat House, you
will receive an attractive "Square Foot" certificate to let others
know you are supporting a great cause. If you would like to be a Square Foot sponsor, please fill out the donation form on the Square Foot Page. Feel free to contact any of the board members (contact information is on the home page) if you have any questions or concerns.
