Hey everyone, here are the meeting minutes for the general members meeting we
had on 2/3/2009. Sorry for how freaking long this email is but there’s a
lot going on~
1.) Builds: BIG BIG thanks to the people if you came to meeting! You
have priority if you want to go a on a build. If you want to go on a
build, please email Joel (jlangdon@mail.rochester.edu).
Again, the build dates are February 21st, March 28th, and April 18th.
These are all Saturdays from 8AM-3PM.
2.) Row for Humanity mailers: If you were not able to come to the meeting
(thanks to all the people who emailed me beforehand though), you can still do
your part for Row for Humanity. When you have the chance, please pick up a
few mailers and send them out to parents/family/friends telling them about the
fundraiser. You can pick the mailers in Ruth Merrill Center in Wilson
Commons (just go down the spiral staircase and turn around, its the room right
behind the staircase) and pick some up from the Habitat mailbox on the left.
All you have to do is write your NAME inside the pamphlet (on the line that says
Participant's Name), the address of the person you are sending it to, and very
short note specifying how much you are aiming looking for ($5, $10 whatever).
Drop off completed mailers in Habitat mailbox as soon as you can, ideally by the
end of the week since Row for Humanity is in less than 3 weeks. If you
live in GLC you can also slide them under the door in Valentine 155. In any
case, get them to us as soon as you can since RforH is on 2/19/2009 from 8A-2P
(only 2 weeks).
3.) Learn to Row: If you would like to participate in Row for Humanity by
actually rowing but have never rowed before, there is a special help session on
Saturday @ 3pm. If you would like to attend PLEASE RSVP to this email by
tomorrow. However, if you schedule opens up tomorrow unexpectedly, still
feel free to stop by. It will be held in gym (make a left as soon you
enter the gym, go down the stairs to the basement).
4.) Elections: Elections are on Feb 17 (two weeks from now). Even if you
are not running, please come because we need to get a proper vote. In any
case, ALL positions are up for grabs. Positions are listed on the Habitate
website (http://sa.rochester.edu/
habitat). As mentioned before, there will only be one Fundraising
Chair next year (not Co-fundraising Chairs) and the position of Webmaster will
also be separate from Vice President.
If you would like to run, please email me (dpak@mail.rochester.edu)
your platform (just a short paragraph with your name and class year) to me by
Feb 11 (next Tuesday). At the very least, you MUST send me your name and
class year by next Tuesday if you would like to run (seriously, it takes like 5
seconds). At the moment only 2 people have emailed me ~
5.) Spaghetti Dinner with Sigma Chi: will be on 4/3 or 4/17. Will be
buffet style (pasta, salad etc). We are looking for performers (singing,
dancing etc). If you know anyone that might be interested in performing,
please email Marika (mharada@mail.rochester.edu).
More info as it comes in.
6.) Does anyone have ideas for an Education Event? Movie? Speaker? Email
Fiona (fdevotta@mail.rochester.edu)
with you ideas.
7.) Spring Break: Build is still full. Participants going on the trip,
keep a head up for an email from Gao (gchen10@mail.rochester.edu)
about the fundraiser.
