MINECRAFT BATTLE ROYALE

Saturday, 6 pm – 8 pm | Room 404 | Limited Space

Server Mods: Jack Andersen and UR Computer Interest Floor

Players will be able to make teams of three and will be spawned all around the center of a vanilla world. There will be a 30 minute grace period where opposing teams cannot fight each other and players can prepare for the battle ahead. After the grace period ends the world border will start shrinking, causing teams to get closer together and eventually clash. The last team standing wins.

We’ll play somewhere between 2 and 4 games of Captain Sonar. This is a 4v4 game where each person has a different role in contributing to the team’s goal of sinking the enemy submarine before the enemy sinks yours, in a style similar to Battleship but much more elaborate, speed-based, and very intense. Each game takes 8 people and about 45 minutes, and people can rotate between games.

Sabotage is a 2v2, asymmetrical but well-balanced game with a divider in the middle, with each team trying to figure out the other’s location on the 4×4 board and outsmart the other team by moving and playing actions unpredictably. There is a doomsday dungeon theme. This is a strategy game that is intense but goes slowly, so prepare to think hard and spend long.

“Red Rising is a hand-management, combo-building game for 1-6 players (45-60 minute playing time). You start with a hand of 5 cards, and on your turn you will deploy 1 of those cards to a location on the board, activating that card’s deploy benefit. You will then gain the top card from another location (face up) or the deck (face down), gaining that location’s benefit and adding the card to your hand as you enhance your end-game point total. If at any point you’re really happy with your hand, you can instead use your turn to reveal a card from the top of the deck and place it on a location to gain that location’s benefit.” ~from StoneMaier Games

Companion’s Tale is a collaborative storytelling and map-making game. The players take on the roles of Companions and tell the story of a hero. The hero is a cipher who is viewed through the opinionated lens of the Companions that the players control. Create the Hero’s journey and learn: Who is your hero?

In this expansion to Companion’s Tale, two groups split from a common origin to opposite corners of the land. Will they reunite or grow only further apart? This session will have two games running in tandem. It is especially fun to players familiar with Companion’s Tale, but open to new players as well!
