The Secretary of Public Relations will be seen as the primary coordinator<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shall be the responsibility of these coordinators to alert the Students\u2019 Association to any petition that has met the requirements to mandate SA action<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shall be the responsibility of these coordinators to approve petitions before they become live on the website<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To become live on the website petitions must abide by the policies set below as well as the Student Code of Conduct and the University Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment (PADH). The Code of Conduct can be found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/cscm\/conduct.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the PADH policy can be found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/policies\/policy\/discrimination-harassment\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any petition submitted that contains bias-related material or discrimination of a protected class will be directed to the proper channel (BRIR, PADH)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eastman Students\u2019 Association will be notified of any petition created that has a relevant area of \u201cEastman\u201d only<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Students\u2019 Association will not take direct action on Eastman specific petitions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Students\u2019 Association will communicate with the Eastman Students\u2019 Association when any University-Wide petition reaches the \u201cMandated SA Action\u201d threshold<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What is \u201cMandated SA Action\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once a petition receives 300 signatures, it will be added to the following Senate agenda for discussion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this senate meeting, the petition will be delegated via the Executive Branch to the appropriate committee or branch<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The delegated body will:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meet with the author of the petition to learn more about their concerns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop a list of action items to be presented at the Senate meeting following communication with the petition author<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remain in communication with the petition author throughout working on action items<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide regular updates to the Senate<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An update to be placed on IMPACT will be written by the delegated body and sent to the Secretary of Public Relations to be placed on the website as an official response from the SA<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reasons In Which a Petition Would Not Be Posted\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the petition contains material that is too similar to that of another petition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the petition contains any content that is discriminatory to any community on campus<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the petition attacks a singular individual <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by name<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the basis of character and identity<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A petition may call for a specified action or removal of someone holding an elected or selected role or a position at the University.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ex) John Doe is a horrific human being is not allowed.
