URCF has always been commited to helping out the community. Over the years URCF has participated in several community outreach programs.
In February 2008, the University of Rochester Christian Fellowship organized a Gym Day in order to reach out to the Rochester kids, grades 6 to 9. The goal of the event was to create a very relaxed environment where college students and Rochester kids can interact and bond by forming teams and playing a variety of games ranging from basketball to dodgeball. The University's Book Store donated shirts; dining services donated snacks and drinks; and the Office of Admissions gave brochures in order to encourage the kids to become interested in college. Members of a variety of fraternities, sororities, and student groups came out and enjoyed playing with the kids. Gym day was a complete success and URCF looks forward to reaching out to the community through another Gym Day for the 2008-2009 academic year.
URCF is dedicated to making Rochester a safe and loving environment through interaction between the URCF students, the Rochester community and God. URCF is instrumental in promoting participation with a variety of other campus groups.Their willingness to serve restores hope in the community, and shows a love of Christ to our neighbors.
As we begin the 2008-2009 school year we anticipate another successful Gym Day event where we can be positive role models for a younger generation, as well as helping network students to tutoring programs, and looking for other ways that we can leave a lasting mark on this community.
