Hall Dinner - 13 September

Every week Tiernanites gather in Douglass or the Pit (and sometimes Danforth) for the purpose of eating.  The night of the week and the time varies so everyone gets a chance to come.  Hall dinners are open to everyone, not just on-hall members!

Assocksination - 6 October

This game is our own twist on popular Assassins. Here's how it works: everyone who wants to play pays $2 to the Social Chair, and is given the name of a person they are to "kill" using balled-up socks.  There are safe zones, like your own room or class, or on your way to class or a meeting.  Eventually, only one person is left alive, and that person receives half of the pot from the fee (the other half goes to Tiernan as a fundraiser).

After a game of approximately 3 weeks, Abby won, all other 8 contestants having been killed. In other words, Abby Weiss is 2-year reigning champion of stalking all people on (and off) the hall. Beware.

Paired Potluck - 4 November

About once a month we have a potluck in which the Social Chair pairs up Tiernanites and assigns them to a dish (entree, side dish, dessert...).  These potlucks are guaranteed to be the best meal you've had in a while, and definitely the best you'll find on campus!  No experience or skill necessary (the Social Chair pairs the experienced and inexperienced participants).

Turkey Party - 2 December

The major social event for the academically hectic November and December 2006 was the Tiernan Project Turkey Party.  In the Tiernan Community Room, we played The Cold Wind Blows (an idea provided by Anais), Apples to Apples, and other games, and ate pizza.  Every year Turkey Party cups are available for purchase, with the quality you can only find at the dollar store!  This year they were pink and blue.  At the potluck beforehand, we made desserts to bring to the event.

Secret Valentines - 14 February

Tiernanites who sign up to participate are assigned the name and room number of another Tiernanite and get them a little gift (not more than $5) and leave it by their room or some other place before or on Valentine's Day.  Single on Valentine's Day?  Don't worries, there's a Tiernanite who'll show you some love!

Spaghetti Dinner - 20 February

The Spaghetti Dinner is Tiernan's annual Faculty-Student involvement event. We specifically invite all the Freshmen and numerous Faculty and Staff members to come enjoy spaghetti and interact in a casual dining environment. This is the chance for everyone to see each other in a new way, or to actually talk to Dean Asbury or whomever you desire that doesn't involve going through secretaries. Tiernanites and APO helped set up and cleaned up as well as enjoyed the massive amounts of spaghetti that we made.

A very successful night, with pasta, salad, bread and cookies aplenty. The Mardi Gras-themed decorations that Tiernanites helped put up were awesome, and After Hours serenaded us with a few songs as we ate.

Game Night - 27 February

James made us crepes with stuff we bought from the Corner Store and we played Taboo, provided by John Jordan.  The night was unexpectedly cut short by Vagina Monologues rehearsal but it was fund while it lasted!

USCARS - 5 March

The USCARS are an annual awards show held by the CSN (Community Service Network) around the time of the Oscars.  They award groups on campus for doing community service, and members of faculty and students that have contributed to the community.  The Tiernan Project received an award for being awesome, of course!!

Quadapalooza - 14 April

Quadapalooza is our biggest social event of the year! We barbecue burgers, hotdogs, and boca burgeres on the quad. This year, we're planning lots of fun things with the hall councils, like mini golf...stay tuned for updates!
