Expectations For Excellence

The Expectations for Excellence (EE) is an initiative taken at the University of Rochester to create college-centered fraternity and sorority chapters on campus. This process includes an annual plan, an annual report submitted via an application, and a presentation before the Standards Sub-Committee (made up of faculty). Each Greek organization must undergo this vigorous process in order to gain university accreditation. The following areas which the EE covers are: scholarship, community building and leadership, programming, non-academic student conduct, and organizational management.

The Iota Chapter has been supportive of the Expectations for Excellence process, and has always received accreditation with no provisions. This means that the organization has met and/or exceeded its plans in all areas. In 2007, Iota Chapter was awarded “Outstanding Program” by the Office for Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, for creating an inclusive environment that encouraged and welcomed the participation and collaboration of several student groups. In 2008, the Iota Chapter received the "Strategic Planning" award and in 2009, the "Planning" award.
