Get on the Bus!



Bus trip to Washington, D.C.

 Program Details:

  • Buses will leave the U of R from ITS at 8pm on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009
  • Students are expected to be at ITS at 7:40pm.
  • Buses will drive through the night and arrive in Maryland on Tuesday morning.
  • Students will get a boxed lunch to eat on the bus.
  • Students will purchase Metro tickets and take the subway to the overflow area of the Inauguration.
  • Students will stay for the duration of the Inauguration and then return (via Metro) to the buses.
  • The buses will leave immediately after the group finds its way to the buses.
  • The buses will stop for dinner on the way back.
  • Students will arrive back in Rochester early Wednesday morning.


 To Purchase a bus ticket:

  • Tickets go on sale on Dec. 12 at 10am.
  • Tickets will be sold at the Common Market in Wilson Commons for $15.
  • All students will need to present their UR ID at time of ticket purchase.
  • Tickets will be limited to 1 ticket per undergraduate River Campus ID.


 Student Expectations:

  • Students will be held responsible for all instructions, rules, and regulations as stated in the contract they signed.
  • All University rules, as stated in the Student Code of Conduct apply.
  • Students must listen to those in charge.
  • Students must remain with the group at all times.
  • Students must be courteous and respectful of everyone else on the bus.
  • Students should plan to bring $25 cash to cover the cost of Metro, food, and other expenses on their own.
  • Students must dress appropriately– we will be standing outside and walking for several hours in January.
  • Students must pack appropriately– most of the trip will be spent on the bus.

“Get on the Bus” is organized  through the Presidential Inauguration Committee. The Committee includes the MLK Commemorative Week Committee, BSU, Women’s Caucus, The David T. Kearns Center, the SAO, MSAB, the Ghandi Institute, the Interfaith Chapel, The Rochester Center for Community Leadership, and R World R Vote.

BSU and Women’s Caucus are SA funded.
