The Elections "Committee" is for the most part made up of one person, the Elections Chair. Due to the nature of the position, the Elections Chair is the go-to person in charge of Students' Associations elections. That being said, the Elections Chair does work with rest of the SA Senate and Executive Office to keep the various SA elections running smoothly. The Elections Chair is responsible for spearheading the Students’ Association Senate elections. These elections occur twice a year, once in the Fall, for Freshmen to vote for their class Senators, and once in the Spring, for upperclassmen to vote for their class Senators. Also during the Spring elections, the entire student body votes for At-Large Senators and the SA President/SA Vice President. The Elections Chair works alongside Laura Ballou, Associate Director of Wilson Commons Student Activities, on the Class Council elections (held for Freshman in the Fall, and for upperclassmen in the Spring).
It is the job of the Elections Chair to assure that all candidates are fully informed of the positions that they are running for, what the campaign rules are and how to conduct a proper campaign. One of the most important tasks of the Elections Chair for both semesters is to maintain in constant communication with the candidates that are running for office, but also the SA Senate and the SA President and Vice President. The Elections Chair attends SA Senate meetings to give a report on the work that has been done over the course of the week, since the previous SA Senate meeting, and what the Chair plans to do for the next coming week.
