The SAAC Budgeting Workshop was held on Tuesday, January 26th to help familiarize the Business Managers of SA Funded, budgeted groups with the process of preparing a budget.

If you were unable to attend the meeting but would still like to learn more about the process, check out the SAAC Budgeting Information Packet (PDF).  This packet includes all relevant information covered at the meeting, as well as a sample budget that can be used as a guide. Anybody seeking more information, can also reference the workshop slides, below.

A budgeting workshop will be held in the Gowen Room on Tuesday, January 26th at 7:30 PM.

This workshop is mandatory for the Business Managers of all SA Funded groups, but is open to anyone interested in learning more about the SA Budgeting process.  At this meeting, we will discuss how to develop a budget for the 2010-2011 academic year and give a general overview of how the Appropriations Committee makes budgeting decisions.

The Students’ Association Appropriations Committee (SAAC) will be filling two Student Accountant positions.

Student Accountants play an important role on the Appropriations Committee, working closely with student organizations to maintain accurate records of their finances, as well as assisting in budgeting over $900,000 in funds to each SA funded group.  Accountants also act as voting members on the Appropriations Committee, hearing requests for supplemental funding.

Applications are available from Debbie Gaudet in Wilson Commons Room 101-E, as well as on the SAAC page of the Hive, and are  Due January 29, 2010 by 12 PM. These positions must be filled quickly, so don’t delay!

On Tuesday night’s meeting of the Appropriations Committee, two supplemental funding requests were reviewed.  The first was a request for new equipment for the UR Kendo and Iaido club, which should allow new members to join this Club Sport without needing to own their own equipment.  The committee voted to release $214.85.

The second supplemental funding request came from all four Class Councils.  The committee voted to release $70 which will allow the councils to purchase an external hard drive to back up all of their files, including meeting notes, flyer drafts, program evaluations, and other media.

Congratulations to the UR Women’s Rugby team, who has reached the National Semifinals of the Division III Small College Rugby Organization by defeating SUNY Albany in the Region 2 Championship game.

SAAC has released $1848.30 in Supplemental Funding to help cover the cost of the travel for 30 team members to Cherry Hill, NJ.

Post-Season Play funding is available to those groups who advance further than expected in competition and have not budgeted for the associated expenses.  Business managers should contact their Student Accountants if they feel they may qualify for this funding!

At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Appropriations Committee (SAAC), Men’s Club Volleyball was awarded $313 in order to purchase four new volleyballs and a net.  Their current equipment had not been replaced in many years and was very worn.
