Sustainability Tip #8: As of this year, UR now recycles Plastics #1-7. This means your cold Starbucks drinks and salad containers from The Commons can now be recycled! Just dump out whatever is left in them, and go find your nearest plastic recycling container.

The newest version of UR Mobile, compatible with iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/Windows Mobile users, came out last week featuring the integration of Blackboard Mobile Learn, thereby ending the necessity to check two different applications for information about UR. After you login, you can now access both Blackboard’s course materials and UR Mobile’s “Places,” “Parking” and much more.
The Blackberry and Android versions of this app are coming soon. Until then, Blackboard Mobile Learn is accessible via 3G networks over any device; you do not need the UR Mobile app to access blackboard.
The Projects & Services committee works closely with IT to increase the number of useful features on this app. Send any ideas or suggestions for new features and improvements to the app through the SA feedback form.

Thanks to the dedication of Dean Feldman and the College, and University IT, URWireless is continuing to expand as proposed by the 2009 SA Wireless Expansion Proposal (PDF). We are pleased to announce that during Summer 2011 URWireless coverage will be added to the Hill Court Residence Halls. Wireless is scheduled to also be added to Towers in the pending renovation plans, which will officially complete wireless service expansion in residence halls. The most up to date coverage map can be found here.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Bradley Halpern.
Are you looking for a rewarding summer job, a chance for great entrepreneurial experience, and the opportunity to get involved in a leadership organization on campus? City Cycles may be the program for you.
City Cycles is a free bicycle rental program run by SA Government. The Coordinator position is a government seat that is paid for their work over the summer and gains valuable collaboration, planning, and entrepreneurial skills throughout the rest of the year.

Free Airport Shuttle
On Sunday, March 13th, the SA Government and the College Dean’s Office are pleased to be offering a free Spring Break shuttle. It will be looping between the airport and campus from 12:20pm to 10:45pm. For specific information about the bus schedule, see the PDF below.
Roadtrip
For those traveling throughout the Northeast, check out Roadtrip. Roadtrip is the SA’s online rideboard, allowing students to post their destination and timing to facilitate carpools with other UR undergrads.
This week at Monday night’s Senate meeting the Projects & Services committee will be hosting an Open Forum on Transportation Safety. The meeting is on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 9:00pm in the Gowen Room of Wilson Commons.
Please contact Bradley Halpern and Becky Donnelly with questions.
The good news about wireless just keeps coming! Not only will Southside go wireless next semester, but students will soon be able to bypass the URWireless login page after completing a one-time registration process.
This means that next semester, students will be able to set up computers, mobile devices, and other WiFi-enabled gadgets to connect directly to URWireless, without having to authenticate manually each time.
IT revealed this change among many other current projects at the Oct. 20 IT Summit, where Students’ Association Government representatives heard about new IT initiatives, and provided feedback about the progress. The meeting touched on services such as Blackboard, wireless installation, and the IT Center Support. IT commented on its progression in creating a completely wireless campus and explained to the group why it cannot allow individual routers as an alternative (being that students tend to create unsafe and unsecure connections). The group also discussed UR Mobile, and requested that it be extended to include access to Blackboard.

In January, Southside Living Area will be the next area to go wireless. Installation will begin during the winter break and the project should be completed before the spring semester starts.
The College continues to follow the list of wireless priorities set by the SA URWireless Proposal (PDF) distributed in the spring of 2009. In April, URWireless was extended to Todd Union, which was set as the first priority in the URWireless Proposal. We are pleased that progress continues to be made on schedule.
Please contact Sonja Page with any additional questions.
Textbooks just got cheaper. Starting next semester, the River Campus Bookstore will allow students to rent textbooks for 50 percent of the cost of purchasing them. About 20 percent of the Bookstore’s selection will be available to rent for the entire the semester.
Even better, these books can be marked up and highlighted, just as you might mark a purchased textbook. If you decide you would like to keep the book after the semester is over, you can convert the rental to a purchase within the first two weeks of the semester. Otherwise, rented textbooks will be due back to the Bookstore, delivered either in person or by mail, by the last day of finals.
Any form of payment currently accepted at the Bookstore may be used, such as student financial aid and URos; the program only excludes PayPal. Regardless of your payment method, you must present a valid credit card along with your purchase, for security reasons.
Feel free to direct questions about this new option to Kelly Byun.
