Favorite thing about Rochester: Let’s face it; it’s impossible to find a student who isn’t passionate about something, whether within or outside the world of academia. Our freedom to be passionate about something – anything – is what makes Rochester so special.
Hey, my name is Dan Cohn (my brothers call me Big Nose, so I guess that's alright too). I'm from a little township in Ohio you've never heard of called Northfield Center. At home and on campus, I enjoy lounging around, especially outdoors. On the weekends at Rochester, I like hanging out or taking the shuttle over to Eastman and causing a ruckus in the city.
I hadn’t heard much about UR until I visited. My jaw actually dropped when I first walked up the steps to the Eastman Quad. I was shocked at how pretty the campus was. And when I learned about everything Rochester had to offer, my gut told me this was the perfect school for me. After a year at Rochester, I cannot imagine attending any other school.
My most meaningful extra-curricular activity on campus is the SA Senate. Senate meetings begin at 9pm and can sometimes last until 2 or 3 in the morning. It can be really difficult to sit and argue for six hours straight, but I know that, in the end, we do it for the good of the student body. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you ever see me around campus, please say hi and introduce yourself. After all, strangers are friends you have yet to meet.
