Favorite thing about Rochester: All the people I've been lucky to have met and all the others I hope to meet!

Hi there everyone! Being from the suburbs of Boston, I picked Rochester partly because I finally got to be far away from home. Visiting Rochester, I fell in love with the U of R because of the academics, campus, and size of the school; big enough to be able to meet a new person every day, but small enough that I can always see a friendly face. Luckily, as my time in Rochester continued, I began to like it more and more here. I've met great friends who will enjoy just sitting around talking, watching TV and movies with me, or joining me in a dance party. I’ve continued dancing, and I’ve found a sisterhood much like re-living summer camp...and I've learned a lot in my classes too, the most important part of being here (of course). I've loved going to see campus plays/shows/concerts, seeing everyone out on the weekend, and spending time outside when the weather was bearable. I wanted to become involved with student government because I had such a rewarding experience with that in high school, and I wanted to be able to understand more about the school and Rochester community I knew barely nothing about. I applied to be an aide on Projects and Services last year because it seemed like the committee in the SA that did the most related to all aspects of student life, and allowed me the most freedom to be involved in certain projects that meant something to me. Obviously I really felt as though P&S was a meaningful committee, because here I am now as co-chair! I really want to continue on in the steps of what the past co-chairs did, and to try to work with different departments on campus to try to improve campus life even more for students.
