Fencing

at the University of Rochester

About Us

The University of Rochester Fencing Club is dedicated to the promoting the sport and art of fencing, one of only four sports to have been in every modern Olympic games. These contests of the sword are far-removed from their dueling origins; rather than drawing blood, weapons have electrical circuits to determine who has been hit. Still, fencing is a sport of infinite combinations relating to a single goal which has not changed over the centuries: "To hit without being hit."

What We Provide

Competitive Opportunities

The University of Rochester fencing club is one of the premier non-varsity teams in the New York area. We have members who are competitive at the local, regional, and national levels, and also provide a training spot for several of the top junior fencers in the U.S. Some UR fencers travel several times a month to tournaments, and the club hosts a large event every semester.

Prospective and Non-Students

Our practices are open to any prospective students and people who are not members of the U of R community. If you're a fencer and visiting UR, join us for a practice!

Club Dues

$30/semester - UR undergraduates who have a USFA membership
$40/semester - UR undergraduates who do not have a USFA membership
$50/semester - UR grad students
$75/semester - community members
