The following is a list of currently running projects that ESW is involved in. If you would like to help with any of the projects e-mail the project leader to get started.
UR Biodiesel:
The UR Biodiesel team is involved on a project that takes waste vegetable oil (WVO) from University dining facilities and brings it to its processing location. Members then convert the WVO into biodiesel with a reactor that is currently being designed and built. The biodiesel is then used on one of the University shuttle buses. There are several aspects that need to be attended to including helping with: running the processor, public relations, developing workshops and presentations for members of the community, and many more. Mondialogo/Uganda Project:
We will be working on a grant proposal to the Mondialogo Engineering Award, which is supported by the United Nations. For the award, teams of students in developing and developed countries work together to improve the quality of life in developing countries. Our proposal this year focuses on using a technology developed by Paul Rayar to build classrooms in Uganda. The technology allows for the production of building materails from waste streams. This is a sustainable and economical way to build much-needed buildings. If interested in working on this proposal contact Jenn at jmill21@u.rochester.edu.
Wind Analysis:
The analysis of wind data for data extrapolation and power generation estimate. This is an ongoing on campus study of our wind resources through feasibility planning, etc. If interesed in working on this project, email Dan at dfink87@gmail.com
Grant Writing for Honduras Water Treatment:
Grant writing for a water purifaction project in Honduras. Contact Dan Abud: DanielAbud@gmail.com
