WHO'S WHO IN CHARLES DREW 2006-2007 General and Academic Chairperson – Jathin Bandari The General and Academic Chairperson is responsible for overseeing the activities of the club and the executive board so that they are true to the club's mission. The specific tasks of this position include working with the advisor and eboard members, finding and maintaining club resources, running the eboard meetings, coordinating the general interest meetings, and helping the eboard with programming for events. Conference Planning Chairperson – Sean Czaja The Conference Chairperson is the chief organizer of the Charles Drew Annual Pre-Health Conference. This person sets up a timeline for planning and execution of the conference. She/he establishes the conference committee, and works with the eboard to develop the conference theme, publicize the conference (at UR as well as other local colleges and high schools), and invite speakers, medical school admissions personnel, medical students, and representatives from health-related on and off-campus organizations. This person also makes sure the conference day runs smoothly, and organizes and publicizes the PBL class. General and Conference Business Manager – Maya Gurme The Business Manager is in charge of allocation of funds for various events, raising money, and contacting organizations for donations. This position also involves making sure that each function runs as optimally and smoothly as possible. Education and Correspondence Chairperson – Monica Patel The Education and Correspondence Chairperson serves the club by acting as a liason between the membership and the medical community. In doing so this person is responsible for bringing in speakers to the university, putting the pre medical membership on the cutting edge of what today's medical field is like, and inspiring them on topics ranging from innovative scientific discoveries to ethical decisions in medicine. This person is also responsible for integrating pre-medical students' life into modern medicine by maintaining and promoting a doctor shadowing program. Community Service Chairperson – Brannan Sam The Community Service Chairperson is responsible for planning, organizing, and attending community service events, as well as informing members about any other volunteering opportunities in Rochester . When planning the events, the chairperson must contact appropriate organizations, find a date most convenient for the membership, and notify the membership of the time and date of activity. Mentoring Coordinator – Stephanie Paine The Mentoring Coordinator is responsible for trying as much as possible to get students with mentors or professional to shadow that are in an area of health care that they are interested in or would like to learn more about. Secretary and Web Page Coordinator – Jonathan DeRight The Secretary and Web Page Coordinator keeps the Charles Drew Pre Health Society's website ( http://www.sa.rochester.edu/charlesdrew ) updated. This person is also responsible for the conference registration process (online) and maintaining communication with Campus Club Connection. Publicity Chairperson – Reggie Sandhu The Publicity Chairperson is responsible for making students aware of various club events. Position duties usually include making and distributing fliers and brochures for events such as speaker events, community service, and the Annual Pre-Health Conference. |
