Organized by the Badminton Club of the University of Rochester and sponsored by the University of Rochester

Entries are now closed. To all participants, welcome and thank you for your support and participation of the Rochester Open Badminton Tournament 2007.
Please check that your names and personal data are correct (Select Reports and view the Player Event Report). Please e-mail me (hweyand@rochester.rr.com) if corrections need to be made. For those of you who have not paid, checks or cash (if possible correct change) will be accepted at registration on Saturday, September 15 from 8.00 A.M. There is a limited amount of t-shirts with our logo left (1 L, 8 M and 1 S). You can order them by e-mail (hweyand@rochester.rr.com) or if there is still any left, buy them for $12.00 a piece on the days of the tournament.

Rally Scoring will be used in all games.
All players are guaranteed 2 games in each event.
Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles will be played ABC Drop. Women’s Singles will just be AB Drop and Women’s Doubles in 2 groups of Round Robin.
First round in the main draw of Men’s Singles only (because of the number of participants) will be played one set to 21, changing sides at 11. After that, all games will continue to best of 3. Note: At all times, when 2 players, who have not played meet, that is considered 'first round'. But when one of the players has already played, then the game is played to best of three.
Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles will start off with the best of 3.
In ABC Drop, losers of the first game in the main round, drop to C and continue to play in that category until they lose. Losers of the second game in the main round, drop to B and continue to play as in C. Winners continue to play in the first round (A) until they lose.
In AB Drop, first time losers drop to B and play until they lose. Winners continue to play in the main round until they lose.
Each group of the Round Robin format will play each other and the two winners of each group will proceed to play for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The 1st winner of Group 1 meets the 2nd winner of group 2 and vice-versa. Then the 2 winners play each other to determine the 1st and 2nd place of the Women’s Doubles while the losers play each other for 3rd place.
5 minutes of warming up, 90 seconds of rest at 11 and between 2 sets, and 5 minutes of rest before the 3rd set is allowed.
Birdies will be supplied throughout the tournament. The organizers will decide if a birdie is to be discarded.
